SELLING IN MEXICO

Why sell in Mexico? For many reasons:

- 110 million people, with a stronger middle class than many other Latin American countries;

- Consumer goods, for the most part, enjoy a strong, well established and varied distribution channel en route to the final consumer. National and regional chains, alongside a good selection of importers/distributors offering support to these various points of sale.

- Proximity to Canada and the United States;

- Possibility of shipping your goods via land, air and sea;

- An interest for Canadian products;

- Overall, the system is very similar to what we are accustomed to.

From the outside, the Mexican market seems to be difficult and it is true. However, Mexico is a market that keeps opening itself to international products. For certain categories, the competition is less fierce on the retailers’ shelves than in Canada or the United States especially for “gourmet” products. So they are opportunities here.  

That said, the sales cycle is very long and administrative requirements can exasperate even the most persistent, but once all of these steps are done, you become a supplier of choice.
